Serendipity

Though risking exposing my softer and sentimental side to the whole anonymous world I shall tell about a book I started reading five days ago. As far as I know it has only received excellent reviews since its publication in 2003 and recently a movie adaptation has also appeared in the cinema. Obviously these kind of things would raise anybody’s expectations, but before I started reading I promised myself to keep them as low as possible. It wouldn’t be the first time I’d be (slightly) disappointed because something couldn’t live up to my unnecessarily and unachievably high expectations. I decided to take it slow and the first three days I only read one chapter a day. But the fourth day (yesterday) I couldn’t restrain myself anymore and I started devouring chapter after chapter until 3 o’clock in the morning.
